Revamping Your Diet? Focus on Addition, Not Elimination

Looking to ditch the quaran-fifteen? We totally get it. But when taking an intentional look at your nutrition, it’s important to focus on addition—not elimination.

It’s easy to get obsessive about throwing out junk and purging the pantry, but we’re here to stop you from going clean-out crazy. Elimination diets are not sustainable and can easily make you feel down when you’re depriving yourself of the things you love.

Follow our tips for a reinvented look at a diet makeover that will keep you satisfied and glowing!

Bump Up Vegetable Intake

More is more! Focus on bumping up your vegetable intake across meals and snacks. Throw a few handfuls of spinach in your morning smoothie (we promise you won’t even taste it). Take a plant-focused approach for lunch, like a filling grain bowl with roasted veggies, greens, and a super flavorful dressing to keep you going back bite after bite. Snack on carrots and hummus or roasted sweet potatoes to give you a boost of potassium and Vitamin C. For dinner, make sure the majority of your plate is full of veggies like baked kale chips, a salad with leafy greens, or roasted purple potatoes or cauliflower. And dessert? That’s definitely a vegetable-free zone. Hallelujah!

Keep Yourself Fueled

The 3 o’clock hunger crash has never been more real. If you go too long without eating in hopes of cutting calories, you’re going about it all wrong. Keep yourself fueled with small, healthy snacks so your energy and mood stay lifted. When you deprive yourself of snacking, especially when you’re hungry, you’re more likely to make impulsive, unhealthy choices when your hunger gets the best of you. A handful of nuts, a square of dark chocolate, or Greek yogurt is a healthy choice you can feel good about—and one that will satisfy even the snackiest snacker.

Beat the Grocery Store Clock

Play a game with yourself when you’re at the grocery store. Experts often recommend creating a grocery list that will help you stay on track, stick to your meal plan essentials, and stray away from impulse purchases. We love taking it a step further and giving yourself a time limit to check off everything on your list. Depending on how full your list is, set your phone timer for 15, 20, or 30 minutes to get your shop done. You’ll be so focused on beating the clock that you won’t bat an eye at anything that’s not on your list. As an added bonus, you won’t be distracted, can feel productive with an errand done, and can move on to bigger and better things!

Don’t Deprive

Changes not sticking? When you’re altering your diet, it’s imperative not to deprive yourself of the things you love. When you meet with one of our Wellness Advisors, we’ll discuss how to develop strategies for success and create a more SUSTAINABLE wellness plan that fits your lifestyle. You really can reach your wellness goals while still enjoying the things you love. A new better you is on its way!
